Raina Ru

Well, at least that's what we call her.  Raina came to us as a foster from Hopes Haven a few months back.  Here she is:

Raina has graced our lives with her love, entertainment and spunk ever since we started fostering her.  She is so funny and has a personality that does not allow you to forget her!  We just love this little gal.  She sleeps with us every night, usually under the covers and loves running outside first thing in the morning and chasing after the squirrels for her morning routine!

If I could describe Raina's personality in one word it would be "passionate".  Raina doesn't do anything halfway.  When she loves you, it is with all of her heart.  When she eats, it's as if it's her last meal.  When she plays, it's with all her might.  When she decides it's snuggle time, she's a PRO.

With this personality comes joy and also a few challenges.  When Raina sits on your lap, she will lean her head back so that she can look into your eyes.  There is no way to describe the love she emits.  I know it seems silly, but this dog knows how to charm and she is a great kisser ;)!!!!!

Here is a little info about Raina:

OTHER DOGS:  Raina is a fighter.  For this reason, Raina would be best being an only dog.  Raina currently lives with several other dogs and she always feels the need to be on top.  She will fight for it if need be.  She dominates my other Chi and Beagle, but if you have a dog that is even somewhat dominant, there will be problems in the house.

CATS:  Raina will chase cats, but doesn't do anything to them once she gets there.

KIDS:  Raina loves my kids and is wonderful with them.  I have a 5 and 7 year old that she snuggles up with on a regular basis and she kisses them endlessly and grants them an extra dose of patience.  If one of them picks her up when she does not want them to, she will let out a growl and get squirrely, but she would not bite them.  Once they pick her up, she is all kisses and love.  Raina just has to get the last word in!

DISCIPLINE:  Raina responds to discipline very well, EXCEPT when it comes to her dominant behavior towards other dogs in the house.  Raina always comes when you call her and is apt to listen if she finds herself getting into trouble around the house in regards to house manners.  Raina is very well potty trained.

HEALTH: Raina is very youthful and healthy.  It is believed that she is about 2 years old.  Raina does have a condition called luxating patellas of the legs, common to Chihuahua's.  The best way to describe her back legs is that she looks like a cowboy who has just gotten off a long horse ride ;).  We have worked very hard at maintaining a healthy weight, which is the most important thing for a dog with this condition.  Raina gets along great, runs like the wind and jumps and plays like a champ.  The worse thing that could happen is her getting older and/or overweight and having pain or arthritis.  Read more about luxating patellas here:  Wikipedia Luxating Patella

If I were looking for one dog to spend my days with, it would be Raina.  She is such a wonderful companion.  She is so full of life and laughs, but yet she is willing and ready to snuggle and be your lap dog.  Raina has such a wonderful disposition and is just waiting for her person to come and give her a chance.

Please consider Raina, she is a wonderful little girl.

Until next time,
